Sunshine, earth day and resolutions!

My new year’s resolution this year was to “take it easier on the earth by changing a few small things in my life." Here is my list all typed up and looking prettier than my first list of chicken scratch. This past week has been beautiful and sunny here in the Pacific Northwest. These changes will be much easier now with the sun shining!  I love spring time.

In honor of earth day, please feel free to choose a few for your contribution.  Xoxoxo

  • Buy local- The local Saturday Farmers market is open NOW! http://www.vancouverfarmersmarket.com/markets.php?page=downtown
  • Dry clothes on a clothesline- I just purchased a retractable clothes line! Super pumped!
  • “Unplug” at least once a day for at least an hour- Put the phone down and shut of electronics
  • Cut down on processed foods.
  • Don’t eat foods or drink from BPA-lined containers. I found this glass bottle earlier in the year and I love it!  https://www.lifefactory.com/product/glass-bottle-with-flip-top-cap-and-silicone-sleeve-22-oz-carbon-hex
  • Open windows to let in fresh air.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • Wash clothes using cold water.
  • Get outside every day for some sunlight and fresh air.
  • Print documents as little as possible. I do have a love for books so I have cut back buy using the audible app.  You get a free book in the first 30 days and then with membership you get book credits every month.
  • Use reusable bags at the grocery store.
  • Plant a tree.
  • Set thermostat 1-2 degrees lower.
  • Opt for paperless billing.
  • Pay your bills electronically.
  • Turn old t-shirts into “new” cleaning rags.
  • Get rid of one-use items (disposable razors, paper plates, plastic ware, etc).
  • Unsubscribe or cancel all junk mail.
  • Turn off water when brushing teeth.
  • Don’t let water run while washing dishes.
  • Get rid of chemical cleaners. (this is has been quite the process)
  • Make your own natural shampoo.
  • Make meals using leftovers.
  • Freeze foods before it goes bad. This works well for me with fruits then I just throw them in the blender the next morning.
