Our first big DIY project and journey to glamping

I love camping.  Truth is tent sleeping on the hard ground or even an air mattress isn't cutting it anymore.  I do love campfires, Coors light and peace and quiet, but honestly I need a bed to crawl into. We found a solution and  have purchased our first fixer upper!!! Drum roll........ A 1990 Mallard Flight Line, thirty foot fifth-wheel trailer. After delivery fees we paid $600.00 for our new project. We had been looking at RVs and camp trailers that cost a lot more than we wanted to spend. I love that my new fiance, Philip loves the adventure of being frugal with me.  We buy most things on sale and use coupons and live within our means for the most part.  I am very excited about this new project and we will be sharing this transformation and cost with you as we work to make this our traveling home.

Unfortunately as this point in our lives we live in a community that would probably allow a 30 foot trailer parked in front of our house for a week, but any time over that and we may have problems. Thankfully I had a good friend of the family that agreed to let us store the trailer on her property while we do the main renovations.  This was a huge load off and very cost effective as I have traded her rent for the trailer space on her farm for free photography shoots until whenever we deem fit.

The first thing we had to do was change the locks because the trailer didn't come with keys.  Safety First.  When the camper arrived the air conditioning units that had been in the windows where "stolen"  the night before transportation. We didn't want the pacific north west winter to get inside or the local barn cats to make it their own, so we weather proofed the windows with cardboard, trash-bags and duck tape for the time being. This steal of a deal also came with a ton of trash inside so we bagged it up and took it to the dump.

Total we have spent so far:
$600.00 for the 5th wheel
$50.00 at Lowe's for a new dead bolt, cleaning supplies, gloves, and masks
$14.00 one trip to the dumb with garbage

1st week total $664.00

Kitchen area
Living room area....look at that carpet YUCK!
Obviously a slight leak, It has been patched but this still needs to be fixed,

We need to get that full size refrigerator out but I don't think it fits out the door.

Just a reminder. Life is BRILLIANT!

This quote got me good.....
“As it is, we are merely bolting our lives—gulping down undigested experiences as fast as we can stuff them in—because awareness of our own existence is so superficial and so narrow that nothing seems to us more boring than simple being.  If I ask you what you did, saw, heard, smelled, touched and tasted yesterday, I am likely to get nothing more than the thin, sketchy outline of the few things that you noticed, and of those only what you thought worth remembering. Is it surprising that an existence so experienced seems so empty and bare that its hunger for an infinite future is insatiable? But suppose you could answer, “It would take me forever to tell you, and I am much too interested in what’s happening now.” How is it possible that a being with such sensitive jewels as the eyes, such enchanted musical instruments as the ears, and such a fabulous arabesque of nerves as the brain can experience itself as anything less than a god? And, when you consider that this incalculably subtle organism is inseparable from the still more marvelous patterns of its environment—from the minutest electrical designs to the whole company of the galaxies—how is it conceivable that this incarnation of all eternity can be bored with being?”
